How Does It Work?

Cleaning & Reassembly

Q & A

Use & Instructions

3-Layer System

The Removable Cover is made of a specially treated polyester duck fabric. Liquids soak through the cover where they are absorbed into the quilted pad beneath. The cover is machine washable.

The Absorbent Quilted Pad creates a soft & comfortable layer between the cover and the protective vinyl layer. The quilted pad slips easily out of the protective vinyl containment pocket and can be washed and replaced in seconds. There are no difficult binders or fasteners to deal with. The quilted pad is machine washable.

The Protective Vinyl Layer creates a tough protective pocket that traps 100% of the absorbed liquid inside of the quilt. Moisture cannot escape through the bottom or sides of The Guardian Quilt because of the patented technology that goes into the design. The vinyl wipes clean in seconds and is also impervious to moisture underneath this layer, which makes it great for use indoors or outdoors. The entire unit disassembles and reassembles in seconds.

The 3 Parts of the Guardian Quilt

A vinyl layer on bottom trap liquids that are spilled on the quilt. The vinyl is very rugged, but soft and pliable. Liquids cannot pass through it. It is also slip resistant on wooden or ceramic floors. The vinyl bottom is easily cleaned with soap and water or any household cleaner. It will contain over one gallon of liquid.

In the center of the vinyl is a soft absorbent quilted pad. The pad tucks into flaps on the edge of the vinyl so that anything soaked into the pad cannot run out of the sides of the vinyl bottom. The pad slips out easily for machine washing.

The vinyl bottom and absorbent pad are covered by a polyester duck fitted cover. The cover is also secured by Velcro® fasteners that allow the cover to be easily removed in seconds for cleaning or replacement.

It is very nice and easy to work with.

Cleaning & Reassembly

Step 1.
Separate the Velcro® fasteners on the bottom side of the quilt that connect the plaid cover to the black vinyl bottom sheet. Grasp the Velcro®, not the cover to separate. Grasping the cover will pull the cover away from the Velcro®.
Step 2.
Continue on all four sides.
Step 3.
Remove cover.
Step 4.
Remove quilted absorbent pad by grasping and pulling from underneath the vinyl bottom sheet perimeter folds.
Step 5.
Machine wash cover separately, in warm water. Tumble dry low heat.
Step 6.
Machine wash quilted pad separately, in warm water. Tumble dry low heat.
Step 7.
Wipe the vinyl bottom sheet clean with warm soapy water or other household cleaner. (Note: Use care to raise the flap around the perimeter and wipe underneath the folds).
Step 8.
Reinstall the absorbent pad into the black vinyl bottom sheet. Make sure that the quilted pad is placed in the center of the black vinyl sheet and tucked evenly around the perimeter.
Step 9.
Lay out the plaid cover on top of the black vinyl sheet with inserted absorbent pad after step 8 is completed. Insert one corner of the black vinyl sheet completely into the corner of the plaid cover. Repeat this step on an adjacent corner then reconnect the Velcro® fasteners on the bottom side of the cover between the two inserted corners to the fasteners on the bottom side of the vinyl sheet. Repeat these steps down each side of the quilt.
Step 10.
Adjust the Velcro® fasteners as needed to create even tension across the cover. This will ensure that your guardian quilt lies flat and neatly on the floor.

What is a Guardian Quilt?
It is a very soft quilt with 3 separate layers. A vinyl layer on bottom that contains very large spills and protects the quilt from moisture and rough surfaces underneath, a soft absorbent quilted pad in the center, and a durable plaid cover. The entire unit disassembles in seconds for easy cleaning. The cover and pad is machine washable and the vinyl can be cleaned and sanitized with any household cleaner.

What does it do?
It protects your flooring from spills and stains when something is spilled on it, and provides a comfortable place for people or pets to sit or lay, even on the roughest surfaces. It is also perfect for picnics and the beach because the bottom is impervious to moisture and actually smoothes out rough surfaces underneath it as well.

How well does it work?
Literally unbelievable! When there is small spill on the quilt, it will bead up on top of the cover for several minutes. This will give you an opportunity to wipe up the spill and not have to wash the cover immediately. Since your children will use it every day you do not want to have to wash it each time there is a small spill.

If there is a large spill (one large glass for example) it will spread out on the quilt for a minute or so, then soak through the cover and into the absorbent pad beneath. Once the pad absorbs the spill it is thoroughly trapped! The pad has a vinyl layer underneath that also has folds around the sides. Liquid cannot escape the vinyl boundary. Our regular size children's quilt, for example, will contain over 1 gallon of water.

Is it portable?
Yes, it folds and stores just as neatly as any other blanket.

Is the Guardian Quilt a value?
It is a great value! This product is designed to be a lifetime product. The vinyl will not wear out, and you can wash the pads and covers hundreds of times. All components are individually replaceable as well. Also, additional cover selections will be offered in the future with team prints (purple and gold for example), so you will be able to change the look of your quilt without purchasing a complete unit. Buying a new cover is like buying a new quilt. The fact is that folk that purchase guardian quilts use them almost every day. Most kids eat their snacks and meals on the floor or in front of the television these days. Also, most people with infants have a pallet on the floor for their child. These are perfect reasons to buy a Guardian Quilt.

Are they good for infants and toddlers?
Perfect. The developer of the quilt made it because he had a very sick infant at home that required full time nursing care. He designed it to provide a safe area to keep the child on that was portable and easy to clean after the child was sick or had been changed. It was designed to protect the child and his flooring as well. He accomplished both. By design, it is also very easy to clean.
Another great feature that makes it a great pallet area for an infant is that, unlike blankets that wad up or bunch up underneath the infant as they move around, the guardian quilt lays flat and neat at all times and doesn’t “bunch up” because of the vinyl underneath.

How long does it take to clean?
It disassembles literally in seconds. The pad and cover is machine washable. The vinyl can be wiped out and sanitized in seconds. Reassembly takes approximately one minute.

What else can Guardian Quilts be used for?
Any place where children eat, or sit and lay down. They also provide a comfortable and safe place for pets (even on your furniture). They are used in SUV cargo areas to protect the carpet and are used outside for picnicking and tailgating. Also, they are used in homes where elderly persons are being cared for to protect furniture and bedding.

How durable is the bottom vinyl layer?
It is made of the toughest PVC coated tarpaulin material on the market. The same material is used to cover truck beds in industrial service. This material also has a very soft and smooth appearance and finish.

Will the guardian quilt slip or slide on wood or ceramic flooring?
Quite the opposite is true. The material on the bottom of the guardian quilt has a very smooth, but tacky property when placed on hard, smooth surfaces.

Is it good for use both inside and outside of the house?
Yes, it is great for indoors because it is soft and it protects your flooring, but it is also great for outdoors because it protects the person on it from wet or rugged ground underneath.

Can I order replacement covers and pads?
Yes...most people do. With a spare pad and cover you can keep using the quilt while one set is cleaned. People that have them find that their kids stay on them not just to eat and snack, but to do crafts like coloring and finger painting and just because they are comfortable for their kids to sit on.

I have a baby. Are they good for babies to lie on?
Absolutely! Most people with infants make a pallet on the floor for the baby to nap or play on. Most of the time blankets are used. The problem with blankets is that they wad or bunch up under the child. Also, if the child has a diaper change or becomes ill and it gets on the blanket, the large blanket has to be washed, or your floor underneath soiled and has to be cleaned. With guardian quilts neither of these things happen.

Instructions and Tips for Use

The following tips and suggestions will help ensure that you get the most satisfaction from this product.

1. Instruct your child on the intended use of the Guardian Quilt. The most important step in getting full satisfaction from this product is to take the time to instruct your child on its intended purpose. Your child will need to be informed that the purpose of the Quilt is to create a safe area for his or her eating and drinking. This will put them at ease and make them comfortable when using the quilt. When there is an accident or a spill, applaud your child for using it properly.

2. The safest area for drinks is the center of the Quilt. The best place for children to sit when eating and drinking on their Quilt is in one corner near the edge of the Quilt, facing the opposite corner. Beverages should be placed in front of them near the center of the Quilt. Seating children in this position also makes room for 4 children with equal space between them. Drinks that are sitting on the edge of the Quilt may get knocked off of the quilt and on to your floor covering. Keep the spills on the Quilt. Train your children to keep the drinks in front of them.

3. Use the Guardian Quilt on a flat surface. Any uneven surface underneath the Quilt (a small rug, for example) may create a ridge or bump that causes cups and drinks to turn over.

4. Use cups or containers with a low center of gravity. Cups that are more narrow on the bottom and wider at the top turn over more easily. The Guardian Quilt will absorb the spills, but following tips number 3 and 4 will reduce the number of times that you clean and wash the Quilt because of spills.

5. Check for dampness before storing the Quilt. The plaid cover, by design, will conceal most stains very well. If there is a spill, you will want to wash the cover and pad so that the Quilt is not stored while damp. Most stains will require that only the cover be washed. Check underneath the cover periodically to see if the pad has been soaked. If so, remove and wash it also.

6. Your Guardian Quilt is a great place for a sick child. Use proper care to clean the Quilt if your child has been sick while sitting or laying on it. The cover and pad can be machine-washed. Remember that the vinyl bottom side can and should be cleaned and sanitized with any household cleaner or disinfectant. Don't forget to wipe underneath the folds around the perimeter of the base unit. Also, make sure that your child is not sensitive to your choice of cleaner.

7. Keep the Quilt handy. Your child will soon learn the benefits of using the Quilt and will not need to be instructed to use it. Store the Quilt in a place that is accessible to your child and your child will use it. Your Quilt folds and stores as easy as a blanket. Many people find that the best place to store it is underneath a sofa or chair in the area where the child is expected to use it.

8. Spare covers and pads are good investments! Your Guardian Quilt will stay in service at all times if you purchase a spare pad and cover to alternate into service while one set is laundered. A spare pad and cover, when purchased in addition to an assembled Guardian Quilt will still cost less than cleaning your expensive flooring one time in most cases!

Guardian Quilts are a great value and a great addition to your home. Enjoy!
